Tenses

Tenses are the three things that tell about an action. There are 12 different tenses.

The three things that tell about an action are time. Past is something that has already happened. Present is something that is happening at the time of something that has not happened.

Continuance includes: simple and continuous. Simple is one thing and continuous is still going on.

Perfect is a complete action. It is not the same as past. But, something can be in the past but not completed.

The 12 different tenses help us with understanding what type of tenses to use.

Questioning

I learned about the four basic types of question: right there, think and search, author and me and on my own. Right there means the answer can be found in the text. Think and search means the answer is in the text but may look different to the question.

How I answered each questions is that it's in the book, using my knowledge or infer what happened. The questions that I answered was what was the drinking company's name.

I looked at the book and tried looking for the name of the company and it was called Aqua plex.

One of the questions is what happened to Ryder. I Infer that Ryder ran away somewhere else.

A secound question is what does the water tank do. I tried reading the book and finding the answer and the tank does is it closes the water.

The last question is why doesn’t Ryder’s family have as much water as the Carter family? It was that they didn't have any money.

I got some correct. I thought the task was hard but I learned lots about questioning.

Measurement-Volume and Capacity

Volume is how much space inside a object. Capacity means how much liquid an object can hold. The standard forms of measuring is Millimetres (MM) and Liters (LT).

Estimation is trying to guess Something. Estimation is using your prior knowledge to guess what the number was.

To convert ml to L you can divide by 1000. To convert L to ml multiply by 1000.

Predicition

We made predictions for reading. Predictions are educated guesses. The education comes by using our knowledge and clues from the book.

One prediction was that people calabrated New Years. Because the title is called Happy New Years, and I got it correct.

Another prediction was that the mum would say “There it is” says mum” The Great Barrier.” and I got it correct again.

I think I did well on my predicitions.

L.I. Thinking of a prediction and what was going to happened next.

Masking art

In art we were making geometric art using the masking technique. Geometric means simple shapes. Masking is hiding an area of something.

First we practised taping the parts off digitally on a Google Drawing to get an idea of how to section off pieces of the paper.

Then we moved onto the real copy of paper. The first thing we did was to created the frame, after we taped off the pieces. Then we made big parts and turned them into smaller pieces.

After that we started colouring. We moving the pastels in one direction.

I think my art turned out really good.

Vocabulary light and sound

For inquiry we learnt about vocabulary. We made a slide called find, draw, animate and act.

We used google slides to make a animation, a drawing, a act and images for our words.

The first word we used was pitch. Kahu found images about pitch. The secound word found did was reflect. Kourabeau made an animation for reflect. The third word found was transparent. Sasuke made a video about transparent and I drew a photo of echo.

My group completed our google slide. I learnt about light and sound vocabulary.

Verbs

Verbs are words that describe actions. There are three different types of verbs. They are physical verbs, mental verbs and state of being words.

Physical verbs are actions that people do, for example: recline.

Mental verbs are actions that are in the brain/mind example: believe.

State of being verbs are actions that identifies what or who a noun is. There is only one state of being verb (be) but it has many versions of it.

Verbs can help people do actions and write actions.

Properties of light

Light is something that makes things visible. A property is a characteristic or attribute that something owns.

One property of light is that light can’t show through opaque (not see through) objects. When light shines on the opaque object the light cant shine though a opaque object.

Another property is that light can create a rainbow because the prism shows all the lights colours.  When a flashlight shines on top of the prism it created a rainbow.

Another property is that light changes positions depending on the angle of the mirror.  When light shines on  mirror it reflects off it and it shines in another direction.

There are more properties of light on the document.

Measurement-Weight

Weight is how heavy an object or item is. The standard forms of measuring weight are tonnes (T), kilograms (kg) and grams (g). To measure these things, people often use scales or balance scale.

Estimating is an educated guess to the amount of something. If a person knows that the weight of a stick is 3 markers, then they can compare the markers on a scale. If they know the weight of the markers then they can make an estimation.

To convert kilograms to tonnes, divide the number by one thousand. To convert grams to kilograms divide by one thousand. If the measurement is 18 kg, then divide by one thousand the numbers shift to right.
