Minecraft combat handbook

I read the whole book of Minecraft combat handbook. The illustrator of the book is Stephanie Milton.

They're different kinds of potions - slow falling, swiftness, strength, instant healthing, jump boost

How to fight - use slow falling when the enemy is in the water.

What kind of armor to use. Leather, iron, gold, diamond.

I enjoyed this book because it talks about information about mobs and buildings. Others could read this book if they haven't played minecraft before.

Topic Planner

The task that I have been given was to write down information about the book I just read.

The book I was given was talking about the paralympic. I wrote down what I fact I knew about the paralympic. 

I tried to find 3 keywords and pick one word for example cerebral palsy means having brain damage.

Lastly I wrote down key questions and question I would answer. Key questions are what the author thinks in their mind. Question I would answer is the question that I would answer.

I collected lots of information in one book and I would to read the other texts.

Reciprocal Reading

 The main activity I did was reciprocal reading.

The  story the we read was the story about Where We Lived. We had two leaders for each page The leader's role is to tell the group what to do by giving them different jobs to do. 

 The clarifier tell us if we have any tricky words. The claifier showed us all the keywords that we needed to know We got one person to asnwer the questions ithe when someone asked the group if they had something they were not sure of.  

The second most inportant role that we used was the questioner. The questioner told us how and where the battle was held and how many people died. He looked in the text again to find this information.

This activity was interesting to do because  my group found out hard words and the meaning of them.

The questioner is the where someone asked the group if they have questions. Lastly the summariser, summariser, tells the group what the story is about in a short sentence.

This activity was intersteing to do because the my group gave out hard words and meanings.  

Commenting

I commented on Emmanuel blog about his time blog post. How to make a good comment is to greet them nicely and say if you did the same thing as them and alway say something nice when you finished your comment. 

This commenting actvity was great to do because I got to talk to a person that kind of did the same thing as me. I can ger ideas from the person I commented to.

Keywords

Keywords are words that unlock different reasons. The book that was based was Harrys War, that talk how he became a farm to a soldier.

Keyword from Harrys war was difficult to find. Each page had words that can unlock to different meaning to it. For example passchendaele. That means passchendaele is a place where Harry and soldiers went to war.

The man three that were choosen were conscription, dodge, d`odge is where you have to avoid something or someone. Passchendaele is a place where Harry and soldiers went to war.

Keywords can be in sentences they're lots of in Harrys War, that talks about how he became a farm to a soldier.

 I read 21 pages of Tom Gates Biscuits Band and Very Big Ideas. The author of the book is Liz Pichon.

Tom Gates wanted to make a biscuit band and had very big ideas but his teacher Mr Fullerman had different ideas he moved all the tables around so Tom couldn't make the cookies.

Tom Gates had a fun idea making biscuits, like different kinds of biscuits and his idea went uphill.

To find out more of Tom Gates read it for yourself and have fun reading it. I love this character because he makes cookies and I love cookies.

Making connection

Making connections allows people to connect with themselves, other text, and the world. There are 3 different kinds of connections and they are: text to self, text to text, and text to world.

Text to self is when writing a text from the book and think of something the same as what the text is.

For example The duck had a party with her friends from the village. The duck’s friends had a party because the highway rat stole was gone. The self to text for it is I have parties when something important or exciting happens. These can connect because both celebrate something important.  

Text to text is when getting a text and find a book that is kind of the same. For example the duck tricks the rat saying she has a sister. The duck was trying to avoid the rat from being eaten. The text to the text of this is the mouse in the Gruffalo tells the snake, fox and owl that he has a friend called the Gruffalo. So he won’t be eaten by them. These can connect because they both used trickery.

Text to world is when taking a text and finding something bad that's happening in the world that is kind of

the same as the text. For example the duck went to retrieve the food to the villagers. The duck had to find a way to return the villagers food back. The text to the world is that people are making food for homeless people around the world. These can connect because they both give food out to people.

Making connections is a way to help understand the text, to other texts, to yourself and the world.

Marc Duffy Role Model

Marc Duffy is a reader that had some hard problems in life but he turned it around and he became a successful person.

Part of Marcs life is that Marc didn't know how to read. He read from right to left and that made Marc's think to himself that he was not smart.

A fact about Marc is that had been send to pisison for borrowering cars and not giving them back because he was friends with bad people. In pision he saw a teacher who taught him how to read. When he left he had a school certificate and a diploma in business.

Marc was one of New Zealands Boxing lightweight champs for five years.

Marc learnt the trade of a builder and owned his own business. Marc used to worked for Bunnings fiiting our their stores. Now he mangers the largest store in New Zealand at Hamilton.

Marc moved just back to University to become a counsellor. Marc travels around the world talking to different schools.

Marc Duffy travels around the world telling to other schools about his story.

This book talks about the landscape in Minecraft, naturally-generated structures and monster and animals.

They're different kinds of landscapes like (exteme hills, flower biomes,)

They're even different kinds of animals and monsters like ( illgers, pillagers, villagers,)

Naturally-generated structures like (jungle temple, dungoen)

I enjoyed this book because it talks about information about mobs and buildings. Others could read this book if they haven't played minecraft before.

Character Trait

Inferring is using clues in the text and prior knowledge to help understand the text. Inferring helped find character traits for the Duck in the story The Highway Rat.

The characteristics of the duck is what kind of person they are. Each character has different adjectives and examples to show how the character is kind, brave, heroic.

The duck was planning how to rid of the rat. Duck: fearless, happy, heroic, clever, nice. The words that were wrote was to describe the duck. 

Using character traits can help readers understand how or why the character would do something.

Fact or Opinion

I compeleted my task called fact and opinion on the highway rat.

I wrote down facts from the story. For example: The duck told the rat she has a sister. 

Then I wrote down my opinion on why the character would do something in the book. 

After that I wrote down adjectives to describe the character traits in the highway rat. For example The duck had to find a way to return the villagers food back. So the duck is helpful, brave, clever, caring, friendly,

Inferring is using clues in the text and my prior knowledge to help my understanding of the text.

I need to work on my opinion because it didn't make sense.

Visualisation

Visualizing is when you know what the book or story would look like by making, a image in your head.

I drew parts of the story that Mr Oglivie was telling us about. I took time in my drawing and how I thought it was good.

The story was about a highway rat stealing travels food. He took food from a bunny, cat, his horse and others. Then a duck showed him a cave, that he thought that there was food the highway rat went inside, the cave and made his way out of it and the duck had a party with her friends.

My visualisation is different then other people because they added roads and other details and I just add details on my rat.

I like visualizing and it is a way to think or draw what a story or instructions look like in my head.

Fact Find

 I completed this fact find activity from the can do list.

I found facts about Dwayne (Rock) Johnson. For example the Rock was born in 1972 May the 2rd.

First I wrote down five interesting facts about the Rock.

Then I added more images and videos in the four boxes.

Lastly I added the links where the information came from.

I would do another fact with another WWE wrestlers because I love WWE.

Minecraft Combat

I read the whole book of Minecraft Combat Handbook. The author of the book is Stephanie Milton and Paul Soares Jr.

One fact about the minecraft book is that it talks about how to defeat a player.

Another fact is that it talks about how to make potions and, how to defeat the ender dragon or the wither.

The last fact is that the book tells about the mobs in the game and their health bar.

This book is a fun and interesting book to read.
